1) Dublin Airport (DUB)

Dublin Airport (DUB) is located about 10 kilometres (6 miles) north of Dublin City Centre. Ireland’s largest airport, it connects Dublin with the UK, continental Europe, the USA and the Middle East.

Getting to Dublin Airport

Bus to/from Dublin Airport

These companies all offer bus services between the Airport, and City Centre/Dublin Area. There is no need to book seats in advance, just show up at the bus stop. The buses all depart Dublin Airport from just outside the main arrivals hall. Consult the individual operators’ websites for a more detail ed list of where their bus routes serve around Dublin. A staff presence is available at the airport should you require assistance finding the correct bus.

  • Aircoach – Serves Dublin Airport to: City Centre / Ballsbridge / Donnybrook; City Centre / Stillorgan / Sandyford / Leopardstown.
  • Dublin Bus – Dublin Airport to: City Centre / Busaras (Central Bus Station) / Connolly Railway Station / Heuston Railway Station. There are also services to: Rathfarnham, Balbriggan, Swords, Rolestown, Dun Laoghaire, Woodbrook, and Portmarnock.
  • Urbus – Serves Castleknock/Blanchardstown/Swords.

Buses to/from the North

  • AirCoach – Serves Drogheda / Dundalk / Newry / Banbridge / Hillborough / Belfast.
  • Bus Eireann – Almost all Dublin/Belfast Expressway services stop at Dublin Airport.

Buses to/from the South

  • AirCoach – Serves Kildare / Monasterevin / Portlaoise / Abbeyleix / Durrow / Cashel / Mitchelstown / Fermoy / Cork.
  • JJ Kavanagh – WATERFORD Service serves Tramore / Waterford / Dungarvan / Carlow / Naas / Newland’s Cross / Dublin City Centre / Airport.
  • JJ Kavanagh – CLONMEL Service serves Clonmel / Kilkenny / Athy / Dublin City Centre / Airport.
  • JJ Kavanagh – LIMERICK Service serves Limerick / Nenagh / Portlaoise / Dublin City Centre / Airport.

Buses to/from the West

  • CityLink – Serves Galway / Oranmore / Loughrea / Aughrim / Ballinasloe / Athlone / Moate / Kilbeggan / Tyrellspass / Rochfortbridge / Kinnegad / Dublin City Centre / Airport.

Rail to/from Dublin Airport

Unfortunately, there are no direct rail services to Dublin Airport. However, it is possible to get the AirLink service, run by Dublin Bus, to both Heuston and Connolly railway stations. Connolly serves the DART rail and Luas tram (red line), as well as rail services to the north, northwest, and southeast of Ireland. Heuston provides services to the west, southwest, and south.

Taxi Services at Dublin Airport

A taxi rank is provided just outside the arrivals hall at Dublin Airport. Approximate fare to the city centre is ?25. However, there are charges for additional passengers / animals, and also if travelling between 8pm and 8am or on Sundays / Public Holidays. Ask the taxi driver in advance if you have any questions.

Driving to Dublin Airport

Dublin Airport is located just off the M1 to the north of Dublin, very near to the M1/M50 junction. If travelling from outside Dublin, most roads will meet the M50 ring-road, and you can drive from there northbound to meet the M1. Take the M1 north, exit at junction 2, and follow signs for the Airport. If you are renting a car at the Airport, the staff at the car hire company will be more than happy to help with directions.

2)Cork Airport (ORK) 
Cork Airport (ORK) is located to the south of Cork City. Flights operate to other Irish airports, the UK, and mainland Europe.

Getting to/from Cork Airport

Bus to/from Cork Airport

Bus Eireann operate a scheduled bus service from the airport to Cork bus station in Cork city centre. From here, there are many local, regional, and national services to take you on to your destination.

Taxi Services at Cork Airport

A taxi rank is available outside the main terminal building. The approximate fare to the city centre is ?12-15. However, there are charges for additional passengers, luggage, and animals or if travelling at night or on a Sunday. Ask the taxi driver in advance if you have any questions.

Rail to/from Cork Airport

Cork Airport does not have a direct rail link. A bus service will take you to Cork bus station, which is approximately ten minutes’ walk to Cork Kent railway station. It is also possible to get a taxi to the railway station.

Cork Airport is located just off the N27, south of Cork City.

3)Donegal Airport (CFN) 

Donegal Airport (CFN) is located at Carrickfinn, in the north-western corner of Ireland. It is 15 minutes drive from Dungloe and Gweedore, and 45 minutes from the centre of Letterkenny, and offers flights to Dublin and Glasgow.

There are no direct bus or rail services to Donegal Airport.

Donegal Airport is located at Carrickfinn, Kincasslagh; in the northwest of the county. It is approximately 15 mins from Dungloe and Gweedore and 45 mins from Letterkenny.

4) Kerry Airport (KIR)

Kerry Airport (KIR) (sometimes referred to as Farranfore Airport) is located just 15 minutes drive from Killarney/Ring of Kerry, and 20 minutes from Tralee. Offers limited flights to elsewhere in Ireland, to the UK and to continental Europe.

Bus and Rail services to/from Kerry Airport

There are no scheduled bus or rail services to the airport. However, it is possible to take a taxi to nearby Farranfore village, from where bus and rail services are available. At present, a limited bus service meets the Frankfurt flights only.

5)Shannon Airport (SNN)

Shannon Airport (SNN) is located in southwest Ireland, about 15 miles north of Limerick, and 15 miles south of Ennis. It offers flights to Ireland, the UK, continental Europe and the USA.

Buses to/from Shannon Airport

  • Bus Eireann – Services to Ennis, Galway, and Limerick. Onward services to the rest of the country are provided from these three locations.
  • Citylink – Services to Galway City

Rail to/from Shannon Airport

Unfortunately, there are no direct rail services to Shannon Airport. However, bus services to Limerick stop at Limerick railway station, from where you can connect with rail services to the rest of the country.

Taxi to/from Shannon Airport

Taxi services are available at the airport for arriving passengers. There is no need to book in advance.

Driving to/from Shannon Airport

Shannon Airport is located just off the N18 road, halfway between Limerick and Ennis.

Driving from the Airport

If you have hired a car, feel free to ask the staff at the airport for more detailed directions.

Travelling to Cork/Kerry/Dublin/Limerick: Take the N18 south to Limerick. If travelling onward, take the M7 to Dublin, the N20 to Cork, or the N21 to Kerry.

Travelling to Ennis/Galway/Connemara: Take the M18/N18 north.

  • Travelling from Dublin: Take the M7 south to Limerick, then the N18 to the Airport.
  • Travelling from Cork: Take the N20/M20 north towards Limerick, then the N18 to the Airport.
  • Travelling from Kerry: Take the N21/M20 north to Limerick, then the N18 to the Airport.
  • Travelling from Galway and Ennis: Take the N18/M18 south to the Airport.
  • Travelling from Limerick: Take the N18 north to the Airport.

6)Waterford Airport (WAT)

Waterford Airport, located in the south-east of Ireland, offers flights to London, Manchester and Birmingham. Waterford Airport (WAT) is located just 5 miles from Waterford City centre, close to Tramore Bay.

Ireland West Airport Knock (NOC) is located on the N17 in East Mayo.
