REQUIREMENTS:
- Relevant nursing qualification
- NMBI: must have Decision Letter (preferred) or registration status of “Education Assessment Complete”
- Only experienced staff nurses with a minimum of 2 years experience will be considered.
- Valid OET/IELTS Certificate
- Must have experience in or an interest in Intellectual Disability nursing
ABOUT COMMUNITY HEALTHCARE:
Based in Community Health Care East (CH06)
Southside Intellectual Disability has 4 main designated areas:
- Maynooth/Kildare (Aisling House, Sorrento, Celbridge Road & Clane)
- Good Counsel Service (Crumlin, Terenure & Rathfarnham)
- Community Houses (Rathfarnham, Tallaght, Dundrum)
- Hawthorns (Stillorgan)
Beechpark Respite Services (Children’s Respite Service) 2 houses
- Farmleigh – Palmerstown
- Liffeyvale – Stillorgan
The Organisational Structure for residential services consists of a Head of Disabilities, Director of Nursing, Assistant Director of Nursing and Clinical Nurse Managers 3 responsible for a designated centre, CNM 2, CNM 1, Staff Nurse and Care Assistant ID, supported by relevant multidisciplinary professionals across the Service.
The role of staff nurse is to ensure compliance and to maintain standards according to Health Act 2007 (Care and Support of Residents in Designated Centre for Persons (Children and Adults with Disabilities) Regulations 2013 is part of responsibilities of this post.
Good Counsel Service
Designated Centre is a 23 bed residential service for Adults with an Intellectual Disability aged between 18 years and 85 years in South Dublin. Good Counsel Service comprises of 3 community houses: Westfield House in Rathfarnham, Cashel Heights – Crumlin and Quilca – Terenure. Good Counsel Service Designated Centre is registered with HIQA since 2015. Good Counsel Service Designated Centre is part of the HSE South Side Intellectual Disability Service (SSIDS), which has residential designated centres across South Dublin, Dublin West, and Kildare.
Hawthorns, Grove Avenue, Stillorgan, Co. Dublin is a 16 bedded residential campus based setting with 5 bungalows. The service caters for residents with moderate to severe learning disability some with challenging behaviour/dual diagnosis.
Aisling House, Maynooth, Co.Kildare. Is a 16 bed service consisting of 2 community houses in a cul de sac in Maynooth and 1 house on celbridge road, Maynooth. The service caters for residents with severe intellectual disability and presenting with communicative behaviour diagnosis.
Solas, comprises of 2 community houses, College Road East, Clane and Sorrento House, Laraghbryan, Maynooth. The service is a 9 bedded between the 2 houses and caters residents with specialised residential care for adults with an intellectual disability, with communicative behaviours and a number with an additional diagnosis of an Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
Community Houses (Rathfarnham, Tallaght and Dundrum) 28 bedded 8 community Houses caters for residents who are capable of more independent living with an emphasis on community inclusion
Beechpark Respite Services (Children’s Respite Service) 2 houses
Farmleigh – Palmerstown
Liffeyvale – Stillorgan
Is 9 bedded Residential Respite service for children on Autism Spectrum Disorder and mild intellectual disability ranging from 6years to 18 years old. Children attend the service on rational basis and attendance is determined by the needs of families and young people.residential is provided on planned basis.
The service caters for adults with varying levels of ability and additional needs including dual diagnosis, autism and age related health issues & Children Respite Service. The service is nurse led, with both nursing and support staff on the team and with access to multi-disciplinary supports at primary care level and from within the wider South Side Intellectual Disability Services.
The people using this service are supported to attain a valued, meaningful life of their choosing. This is achieved through the provision of interdisciplinary supports and family engagement to facilitate the implementation of Person Centred Support Plans which reflect the needs, aspirations and wishes of each person residing in Hawthorns.

- Salary from €30,609 – €47,431 per annum based on years of experience and additional pay for shift differentials
