Job Description
BD, also known as Becton Dickinson, provides pen needles for the care of Diabetes patients globally. The plant, based in Dun Laoghaire, runs 24/7 and is the Worldwide Centre of Excellence for Pen Needle Manufacturing within the BD organization, producing 4.6 billion medical devices annually. Here we employ approximately 450 people across Operations, Engineering, Quality and R&D.
We are recruiting 3 x Laboratory Test Technicians (11-Month Fixed Term Contract) to join our Research and Development (R&D) team and support new product development testing and day to day lab operations for the Pharmaceutical Systems business unit.
Since 2017, Research Centre Ireland (RCI) has been located at the Dun Laoghaire facility, providing R&D support both the Diabetes care and Pharmaceutical Systems Business Units across Sustaining Engineering and New Product Development programmes.
Responsibilities will include:
- Product testing to support program milestones.
- Training in appropriate test procedures and protocols as well as completion of on site compliance requirements through BD’s learning management system (C2C).
- Using the laboratory with adherence to good laboratory practices (GLP) for product testing and good documentation practices (GDP) through planning, performing, monitoring, recording and reporting on product testing.
- Providing support in testing of root cause investigations on malfunctioning product.
- Ensuring that all work is carried out in compliance with the required regulatory standards, conforms to company policies and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintaining the laboratory and equipment to good safe working order and ensure readiness of the laboratory for internal/customer/regulatory inspections within the laboratory.
- Working as part of a dynamic team to collaboratively reach project targets and milestones.
- Maintaining appropriate recording and reporting systems on all engineering related matters (calibrations etc).
- Stock management, allocation and removal of product & waste.
- Shipment of materials as required.
- Proactively identify and implement laboratory improvements. For example, suggesting improvements to test methods, flow of material through the laboratory or any process improvement pertinent to laboratory operations.
